Chapter 8

1. I chose the National Education Association (NEA). I learned they are the largest professional organization and largest labor union in the US. They represent public school teachers and other support personnel, faculty and staffers at colleges and universities, retired educators and college students preparing to become teachers. I thought it was interesting seeing there is a group out there helping teachers. I work in the school system and seeing how much teachers are unappreciated makes me happy to see a union out there wanting to be there for them.

2. I realized that I associate with the NEA and AFT positively. They both work hard to help teachers out. If the teachers didn't have help then it would reflect back on the students. When this happens, where is the future for our children? If there wasn't unions out there willing to be on the teachers side, then people simply wouldn't want to be in that field. As if the field isn't flowing over enough.

3. I believe they have enough power, because if they didn't then people wouldn't care much about them. If they had to much power, you would hear more people arguing over the excessive amount.
